High school students’ thousands of questions about the degree
What is a degree in Applied Foreign Languages? What languages can you study in Strasbourg? Is there a required level to enter the degree? Why “applied”? What of further study? What career path afterwards? What jobs?
These are some of the questions that many high school students from Alsace and elsewhere are wondering about the LEA degree from the University of Strasbourg. Just like our students did when they were in high school. That is why some of them, the LEA Ambassadors, are committed to answering the questions of high school students about the LEA degree. They also help high schoolers to refine their higher education choices study choices.
By passing on the knowledge they sometimes lacked when they were in senior high school, Ambassadors help future first-year students to succeed in their studies. Their objective is therefore the same as the LEA department.
A highly supervised project for well-trained Ambassadors
To acquire this set of professional skills through practice, the Ambassadors are well supervised. As part of the “Missions Professionnelles” (professional engagement) plan, they benefit from two training courses: project management and computer graphics creation.
Finally, a partnership with the rectorate services facilitates communication with the high schools.

A marketing approach
The LEA Ambassadors’ project follows the stages of the marketing approach, which they learn the basics of in class:
-
- market research and target definition – identifying the public interested in the LEA degree at the University Days or Open Days, highlighting the advantages compared to the other LEA degree proposed in the North-East quarter of France and targeting prescribers, parents, teachers, guidance counsellors and school heads.
-
- preparing appropriate arguments – answering the questions and expectations of the various targets and raising awareness on the courses offered by the LEA department in Strasbourg.
-
- creating communication media adapted to each target group – brochure, poster, slideshow and short video.
